See a shark, up close and personal. The Leopard Sharks come each summer to
the shallow waters near La Jolla.
Kayak & Snorkel Tour
We kayak over to where the sharks hang out and watch these gorgeous
creatures by snorkeling on top of the shallow waters.
While there is no mistaking their
shark-shaped bodies, these 3 to 7 foot long creatures are harmless to man.
No reports have been made of bites to humans—their
mouths are very small and they prefer to feed on small fish and
invertebrates.
Leopard sharks (Triakis
semifasciata) are nomads and show up
in La Jolla every year. Our "Kayaking and Snorkeling"
tour features a knowledgable guide and a bonus kayak tour to the
gorgeous La Jolla Sea Caves. There we usually see seals, sea lions and
occasionally
dolphins!
These guided tours last about 2½
hours and include kayaking and snorkeling equipment. These trips are perfect for
families, though kids (and adults) need to be able to swim! For ages 10 and
up! Spring and Summer months only, so reserve early.

La Jolla Cove Snorkeling

into the beautiful underwater world of La Jolla Cove on our 2-hour
Snorkeling Tour. With your guide you will discover the incredible waters of
La Jolla’s Ecological Reserve and marvel at the abundant wildlife. We’ll
swim by the La Jolla Caves, the fascinating kelp beds and reefs near the
Cove. Expert instruction and all your snorkeling equipment is provided,
(waterproof cameras are available for purchase). Spring, summer and fall months
only.
